Finding Genetics and Public Health Information Online
Mohammad Al-Ubaydli, a physician and programmer, has a paper out in PLoS Medicine giving some tips for how to use search engines like Google to find medical information. Pretty basic, but a good review.
One search engine that I’ve never heard of before is Google Scholar. It includes not only much of the information available at PubMed, but also information from other non-medical academic fields. Instead of listing papers by chronology, Google Scholar ranks them like any other website by the number of links they receive. Good for someone searching for the most comprehensive information instead of the newest esoteric research.

Unfortunately, the Genetics and Public Health Blog is not a one-stop-shop for all your medical information needs (not yet, anyway). Hope these search engines will help you find what you’re looking for.
ETA 9 Aug 05: The Krafty Librarian warns that Google Scholar has not indexed any PubMed content after February/March 2004.
