Z Gene and TV Stupidity

by Hsien Hsien Lei, PhD on September 23rd, 2005

Ever heard of the Z gene? Me neither. But what Bill Walsh of Media Watch is postulating makes a lot of sense.

When stimulated by Z-rays put out by a camera, this gene does two things: It turns the brain off and stimulates the vocal chords.

Who is the most-often photographed person in Washington, D.C.? Right, President George Bush. Need I say more? The leading scientific journals have suggested that there may be a few people whose Z gene is incompletely developed and who are therefore as natural, intelligent, thoughtful, and sincere in front of a camera as they are in real life.

Unfortunately, most of them are infants.

Z gene stimulation and actual growth can and is promoted by doting parents who follow their young ones around with a video camera, asking the little tyke to “Look at the camera” or “Smile for Daddy.”

Oops. I think I may have overstimulated my son’s Z gene.
