DNA Tests for Athletes
National Basketball Association (NBA) Commissioner, David Stern, suggests giving rookie basketball players DNA tests for pre-existing conditions.
Let’s put it back in rookie camp. If you’re thinking about drafting a player, you do blood [tests], you do X-rays, skeletal, you look for scars, for breaks, for weaknesses, for disease. I don’t know what you would be looking for with DNAs, but given the size of the contract and the importance of the draft pick, I think that diagnostic testing that tells you whether you’re making a good investment is not a bad idea.
Another argument for providing basic genetics education to everyone, jocks and geeks alike.

Let’s go one step further and store the DNA of genetecially gifted athletes. We shoudl clone them. how about a whole team of Michael Jordans?

JD, Thanks for the comment. One small problem with having a team of Michael Jordans - they might run off and play baseball instead! ;)
