Tangled Bank #38: Science and Medicine Blog Posts
Hedwig the Owl at Living the Scientific Life is hosting this edition of Tangled Bank #38. My brain and I are still on vacation, so I wasn’t able to digest the incredible offering at one sitting. I’ll have to go back to it (and Hedwig’s blog) when I return to real life.
Here are the Tangled Bank posts about genetics:
- Orac at Respectful Insolence writes more about this past summer’s Nature Letter on Harry Potter’s powers of teaching genetics.
- Reason at fight aging! discusses the use of mitochondrial DNA to replace nuclear DNA.
- And a nice complement to my post on genetically engineered mice carrying an extra human chromosome 21 as a model of Down’s Syndrome, PZ Myers at Pharyngula found some cool mice that can actually regenerate damaged ears, toes, tails, livers, kidneys, and even heart tissue.
If your brain isn’t in a stupor like mine is, it would probably appreciate some stimulation at Tangled Bank!

Cary, I saw you there! I love blog carnivals because they’re like e-zines if organized well.
