Real Cancer, Real Lives #1
Cary at Cancer NewsWatch has started a new blog carnival, Real Cancer, Real Lives, “dedicated to raising real awareness of what it means to live with a diagnosis of cancer.” He and his wife, Lori, have firsthand knowledge of what this means. Lori has been battling cancer for about three years.
Cancer is not a feel-good disease its a killer and the serious nature of the disease deserves our honesty at the very least. Whether its crying in our coffee, or laughing in the face of death, all emotions are valid when facing a potentially fatal illness. Its time to open up the doors and let the world know what it really feels like to battle cancer, even if we have to do it one blog at a time.
I really enjoyed reading the posts and learning more about what it means to be both a cancer patient and caregiver to one. It’s not an easy journey, but everyone seems to be taking one step after another, keeping on keeping on. In addition to these personal accounts, Cary is including posts on the science of cancer, and the Genetics and Public Health Blog has contributed a post on homologous recombination and alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
Blog carnivals are the equivalent of mini e-zines on specific topics/niches and are excellent portals for discovering the riches of the blogosphere. Real Cancer, Real Lives promises to add much to the conversation.
