Identical Twins Parent Each Other’s Children
The mysterious world of identical twins is something most of us will never experience firsthand. Besides the frequently mentioned identical genes, identical looks, secret language, and telepathic powers, identical twins apparently feel closer to and are more involved with their co-twin’s children compared to fraternal twins.
Genetically speaking, identical twins are actually parents to each other’s children.
“Evolutionary psychology suggests that we’re predisposed to act in ways to get our genes into subsequent generations,” says Nancy Segal [of the Twins Studies Center at California State University at Fullerton]. That means by caring for her twin’s children, Jill [a study participant] is unconsciously working to get her genes passed on.
And it’s highly likely that identical twins have such a close bond that anything one twin experiences is shared with the other.
