Free Sciona Seminar: Genes, Nutrition, and You

by Hsien Hsien Lei, PhD on November 16th, 2005

Sciona, Inc., the company that makes home DNA tests, will be holding a free seminar, “Genes, Nutrition and You,” in the auditorium of the Boulder Public Library on November 21, 2005 from 7pm - 9pm. It will be led by Yael Joffe, Sciona’s Director of Nutrition, who is a state registered dietician working on her Masters degree in Nutrigenomics at the University of Cape Town, South Africa*.

From the press release:

Nutrigenetic testing identifies genetic variations which may indicate an individual’s risk for developing specific health conditions including cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Once these variations are known, an individual can alter his/her diet and lifestyle, as necessary, in order to work toward achieving his/her optimal health potential.

I will ask Sciona if there’s going to be a podcast available. If any of you go, please come back and share your experience!

*Just curious, but why is Ms. Joffe getting her degree in South Africa when she’s employed by a company based on Colorado? Dr. Keith Grimaldi tells me that Ms. Joffe is originally from S. Africa and has been working at Sciona for many years.
