Genetics and Health is Now HONCode Accredited

Genetics and Health has just been accredited by the Health On the Net Foundation! We have been found to adhere to the eight HONcode Principles for Quality and Trustworthy Health Information.

1. Authority - The advice I provide here is straight from the horse’s mouth (mine, a PhD-trained one)
2. Complementarity - The information I provide supports, not replace, any advice from your personal physician.
3. Confidentiality
4. Attribution
5. Justifiability - Esp. as it pertains to DNA-related products and treatments.
6. Transparency of authorship
7. Transparency of sponsorhips
8. Honesty in advertising & editorial policy

So, if you didn’t already know before, you can trust me!

For health bloggers interested in becoming HONcode certified, I’d recommend answering these 10 questions posed by the NIH first. When you’ve done that, send me the link to your post and I’ll add you to the Genetics and Health Honor Roll.

Once you’ve answered the NIH questions, it’s a piece of cake filling out the HONcode application.
