National DNA Day
Good thing Emma Tonkin at Genomics Policy, a University of Glamorgan weblog, is on top of things. From her I found out that today is National DNA Day! Sponsored by the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), it’s perfect timing because this week, I happen to be celebrating Genetics and Health’s first birthday.
What’s in store?
- Webcast and podcasts of talks including one by NHGRI researcher Barbara Biesecker - Genomics: Towards a Healthier You
- Teaching Tools including one on exploring our molecular selves.
- Live, online chat from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern US time. That would be 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. London time where I am. I’ll try to join in even via my pathetic dial-up connection (don’t ask). Want to meet me there?
Come party with me! Don’t forget to bring your genes.
Update 1:35 p.m. London time: I’m in the chat room now and observing the great question and answer session. Come by and join in! I should be there for the next few hours.
Update 2:01 p.m. (GMT+1): Poop. My comment didn’t show up in the moderated chat room. Looks like they’re limiting the discussion to students, but the answers given by the NHGRI staff are still excellent.
