Weekly Genetics Quote #29: The Dependent Gene
Around the same time last year, I posted about about the pointlessness of the nature vs. nurture debate. And the book I came across today for the weekly genetics quote just happens to come from The Dependent Gene: The Fallacy of “Nature vs. Nurture” by David S. Moore. (I’m finding so many fascinating books that I’m not sure I’ll get to read all or even most of them in the next 20 years.)
…just as no single domino in a series can be called the cause–or even the most important cause–of an outcome, neither can a genetic factor alone be the cause–or even the most important cause–of the development of a trait. Instead, genetic and nongenetic factors determine traits’ appearances collaboratively.
