Rica Lode’s Personal Experience with PGD (Part 6)
This is a Genetics and Health exclusive multi-part series featuring Rica Lode’s search for preimplantation genetic diagnosis for neurofibromatosis 1 (NF1). Today, Rica shares her feelings about the journey so far with a poem. To start at the beginning of Rica’s story in her own words, here are part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, and Part 5. Also don’t forget to vote in our PGD poll that’s to your right in the sidebar. The results of the PGD poll will be revealed in Part 7 of Rica’s story published on July 25.
~~~~~
The more I ask, the more appears in mist.
With each step, thought nearer to destination,
Find more came, almost toppling my position.
Of late, life seems to be raining on my parade,
Going nowhere seems to be my fate.
Just when I thought all is lost,
All of a sudden, I was jolted by a force.
Of angels of hope descending upon me,
Shining through the mist, onto the path I should be.
Distance may have widen from the original mission,
Taking us longer than we ever envision.
Of its eventual outcome, we may never know,
There will be days we would feel low.
No matter how rocky the path may be,
Against all odds, we shall prevail!
Dear Rica
I came across this website today and I do not know how old the entries are but I thought you would be interested to know that I am currently having PGD at the UCL London Hospital for neurofibromatosis type 1 that my husband has. If you ahve any questions at all please feel free to email me - unless of course you posted your entries a long time ago and have already completed your search!
Dear Rica
I personally thank you for your postings that I got to know about the PGD for NF1 through the series 2years back.
After a lot of research, we have been able to trace quite a few PGD centres in Singapore. I can furnish further details if you are interested, and if you haven’t settled down with a choice yet!
