Archon X PRIZE for Genomics
Grace at Flu Patrol and I were talking about the new Archon X PRIZE for Genomics: $10 million for technology that can map 100 human genomes in 10 days. And they’re not afraid of harnessing the power of celebrity and wealth to publicize the project.
…another $1 million if the team can decode the genomes of 100 more people, including some celebrities and wealthy donors such as physicist Stephen Hawking, talk-show host Larry King, Google co-founder Larry Page and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.
Anybody else want in on that list of 100?
NB: The Archon X PRIZE FAQ has some great explanations about genetics and genomics. But it fails to answer my burning question - Why is PRIZE in all CAPS?
Also, more cool stuff at the X PRIZE Foundation.
