The author of Kate Moss’ unofficial biography, Addicted to Love, claims that he obtained her underwear and sent it in for DNA analysis. Fred Vermorel:
I DNA-tested it just to discover her ancestry - Scottish, apparently. Nothing more

Not to be irreverent, but were the little arrays flouncing about in kilts & drinking peaty scotch? I didn’t think that most ancestry DNA tests could distinguish beyond major cultural groups and rough geographic area.

abbacat: lol Most of these types of tests trace only the Y chromosome as well. But I think some of these genealogy DNA testing companies also use surname information and compare the DNA with other clients and historical figures.
