Life on Mars?

by Elaine on December 11th, 2007

NASA has let it be known that its robot rover ‘Spirit’ disturbed an area on the planet Mars’s surface which revealed evidence of silica deposits.  See the picture below. The deposits were probably produced when hot spring water or steam came into contact with volcanic rocks.  This type of environment would be perfect for microbial life.

NASA scientists remain excited for the potential of this discovery takes us one step closer to inhabiting this planet.
